Platform Art by David Begbie in the Gloucester Road Tube Station
The London Underground's Gloucester Road Tube Station seems to almost always
have an art exhibit on the platform level (I try to make a point of visiting
the station on each trip to London).
Here are a few photos of the wire mesh sculptures by David Begbie
that are/were on exhibit in the summer of 2002 (June 7 to August 12).
They're definitely worth a look.
The Gloucester Road Tube Station is on the Piccadilly, Circle and
District lines.
Gloucester is pronounced "glouster" (i.e. like "blouse" with a "ster"
on the end).
The "index" page for this series of London pages is here.
Enjoy!
I've not copyrighted these photos as they could probably be considered to
be derivative works of the original sculptures (if they are then I hope
that the copyright holder doesn't mind).
